bloody—damned, from the 18th century on. Seeing this in the American slang dictionary threw me, because I consider it mostly British slang. I would imagine it’d be around through the 18th century, but not into the 19th. The references do, however, appear to be mostly nautical from the East coast. As I recall many of the East coast elite copied the British, especially the British nobility, so it may be possible it was used in those circles quite a bit, but not in the lower echelons of society or out west. This, however, is just my speculation and I don’t have anything to back it up.
